Removing The Biggest Obstacle That Is Stopping Your Success

roadblockASuccess Comes in Small Steps, So Make Every Step Count!

There is a very good probability that you have a daily routine, even if you don’t think that you do.  Your daily routine has much to do with whether or not you succeed and how long it will take.  Obstacles of many types can and will impede your progress.  Understanding what these obstacles are and how to eliminate them is crucial.

You Have Your Way Of Thinking – And That Is Good

If you wish to take a serious look at how you spend your time, there is no question that you will find several ways to improve your daily rituals.  For example, no matter how talented you may be and how well you believe that you can multitask throughout the day – any amount of time that you waste or misuse in some way can never be replaced.  So, for all of us – time is the common denominator that must be used wisely in order to achieve the greatest amount of progress possible.

What I am about to share with you might appear to be rather instinctive.  And for you, perhaps it really is instinctive.  However, for what ever the reasons might be, this pattern of thinking did not exist in my mind when dealing with everyday situations.  As an engineer, I had grown accustomed to applying a great deal of forethought when attempting to solve technical problems.

But, to handle everyday situations, I was not so detailed in my approach.  As a result, I didn’t always make the best choices.  Of course, there may be many reasons for my making “bone head” mistakes, but as I look back over my early years as an entrepreneur, my belief is that I made mistakes because I was very shallow in how I thought of goal setting or even business planning.

Your Viewpoints WILL Be Tested And They Should Be

I was fortunate to have had a mentor whose approach to business and money-making was initially totally alien to me.  And, because it was so different to what I was comfortable with, there was an adjustment period and it was doing that period of adjustment that I was forced to modify my way of thinking about if I wanted to become entrepreneur.

I came to accept and to realize that it is unreasonable to expect myself to be like someone else.  We are all unique.  Our personalities are different, our likes and dislikes are different, etc.  Now, that is not a bad thing.  It is actually a good thing.  But only if your understanding of that fact doesn’t become a major obstacle in your ability to succeed at your own personal goals, especially as an entrepreneur.

Just imagine if you were to ask someone whose opinion you valued to listen to your ideas concerning what you wanted to do with your life. And when you told them your thoughts,  the reaction you received was, “That’s a pretty dumb idea!”

Don’t Change Your Dream – Change Your Approach

Chances are that you would be disappointed, surprised or even upset.  Yet, you would not likely give up on your dream – at least, not immediately.

But, if you heard that same reaction or something similar often enough or you spent an appreciable amount of time trying to obtain a more favorable reaction to your personal dreams, in time you would find that you had begun to describe dreams that meshed more with THEIR dreams, not yours.

I discovered that there is a very practical, even simple way to overcome the temptation to “trade your personal dreams in exchange for receiving the acceptance from others”.

The actual process of how to do this is, as I just mentioned, very easy to learn.  But, it has to be taught in a sequential fashion.  The actual steps and full details of the strategy are provided {at no cost} only to members of our SDK Collaborator Group.  The strategy is provided in this way, not because we wish to keep it as a secret.  That’s not the case.

The SDK Collaborator Group is free  to all subscribers.  The reason that the information is shared only in this way is because each person is different and until they understand the pieces of the strategy properly, they are not able to design their proper path to success.  That means that there is a need for interactions between myself and subscribers.  They must allow for this interaction so that they learn how to “personalize” the strategy for themselves.

Remember, this is about YOUR dreams, not mine!

In order for you to succeed toward YOUR dreams, you must  understand the basics of how to the strategy works and to then be shown how to place yourself in a position where YOU can choose as many opportunities as YOU wish knowing that YOU will be able to extract value from each of them.  This can easily be done, but only if YOU are willing to allow the strategy to be taught to you personally.

Most people would rather not do that.  They would rather grab whatever looks and feels good to them and then take their chances.  After all, we are all different.  So, “To Each His Own”.

The Buffet Table vs The Dinner Table

Consider this small example:

You are hungry.  In fact, you are extremely hungry.  You have $50 in your pocket.  You realize that you need to decide where you will obtain food.

Somehow, you find yourself in front of two restaurants.  The first restaurant you see has a big sign in its window that reads:

“The Dinner Table” – Come Eat With Us – Just Take A Seat And We Will Serve You Immediately! Right Now, We Are Serving Our Most Delicious Dinner And The Price is Only $50!

The second restaurant has an equally big sign in its window that reads:

“The Buffet Table” – Come And Eat To Your Heart’s Content – You Can Select Your Own Meals From Our International Cuisines – All Meals Self Service – For A Limited Time, All Of Our Meals Are Free!

Which restaurant would you visit?  Most people will use the $50!

  1. Finding this article is timely for me. I’ve been struggling keeping my focus on my goals, not getting distracted by all the small day-to-day things. The restaurant analogy is great and so true. Sometimes we need a reminder to help us keep our focus and perspective, so thanks for that!

  2. I think what you’ve said about remembering it’s OUR dream is key. So often, I hear about the successes of others and set out to chase them down their path. But that was the best path for THEM, not ME. I would be a lot farther along, I think, if I could successfully keep that in mind!

    1. Mike, there is a tremendous amount of wisdom in what you have described. Many people are caught up in chasing what they see or hear that others are doing. Obviously, there are instances when it is acceptable to follow the crowds, but usually it is best to do what is proper for you and your personal situation.

  3. Having recently been hit with a job loss, which is postponing my dream of going back to school, this post resonates with me. I have to change my views, my routines and think outside the box! Well said!

    1. It is absolutely essential that one think outside the box, if one wishes to leave the box. Patterns of thought can be extremely liberating, but they can also be powerfully imprisoning at the same time.

  4. Holding fast to my dreams has been a challenge for me especially being a working mother. I’ve often felt that I need to prioritise my kids, my husband and my work first. I’m only just remembering my work goals. Thanks for reminding me not to bend them to seek approval from others.

    1. The more goals you have, the more important it is for you to understand how best to set priorities. Certainly, it would be nice to be able to create a plan and just focus upon it from start to finish. However, with a complicated set of goals or goals that sometimes will compete with each other, your planning has to adjustable. We can offer you some very practical techniques that will help you. We look forward to working with you.

  5. I think you highlighted the importance of having a decent mentor and the benefit of challenging your own assumptions and ways of doing things. I find this the biggest challenge personally. Thanks for the post.

  6. I’ve been thinking about this exact thing lately! This is great. I feel like I have the answers now. It is rare nowadays to see somebody talking about how to plan your strategy. I would like to read more articles like this one. This is full of great information and is really a useful article.

  7. I also believe it is highly unreasonable to compare oneself to others. Everyone is very differently and although others may influence your viewpoints, I believe it is important to hold steadfastly to one’s own opinions and interpretations. It is an important aspect of any person for that matter.

    1. It is always best to know what your belief system is so that you are not confused by the beliefs of others. We do agree with your statements.
